Two Spirits, One Calling

This week’s teachings opened a new journey into The Summary of Everything and continued our walk through Hebrews. Across every conversation, one idea surfaced again and again: humanity lives between two spirits, the Spirit of Man and the Spirit of God, and our calling in the fulfilled age is to learn the difference and follow the latter.

Summary of Everything, Part 1

Shawn begins a five week overview that will form the foundation for Sunday Schooled, a 52 week course launching in 2026 for LDS seekers and anyone wanting to understand the fulfilled biblical worldview.

This first session looks at the human perspective. Shawn explains how we see divine truth only in part and how God seeks sincere hearts over ritual or performance. He traces this idea from Proverbs and Matthew back to Genesis, focusing on the creation account and the meaning behind God saying “Let us make man.”

From the Garden narrative, Shawn explains how humanity shifted from divine dependence to self-will through the Tree of Knowledge. This introduced the Spirit of Man, both individual and collective, driven by the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life.
He contrasts this with the Spirit of God, which alone brings life, truth, and sight.
The session closes with a call to discern between these two spirits and to live by the latter in the present fulfilled age.

Hebrews Chapter 3

Part 1 and Part 2

Delaney and Shawn continue their study through Hebrews with a close look at Chapter 3.
Together they explore the comparison between Moses and Christ and what it means for Jesus to be both the Apostle and High Priest of those who believe.

The conversations highlight:

  • the difference between the servant role of Moses and the Sonship of Christ
  • the spiritual house God builds through belief rather than law
  • the biblical meaning of an evil heart, defined as unbelief rather than outward sin
  • why faith and love please God more than intellect or performance
  • how unbelief leads to spiritual departure in ancient times and today

They connect these teachings to psychology, forgiveness, and the human struggle to trust God in a distracted world.
The second episode introduces the Yeshuan understanding of sin as a matter of idolatry and unbelief rather than divine disappointment, setting the stage for next week’s discussion.

Conclusion

Whether through Genesis or Hebrews, the message was the same: The Spirit of Man blinds. The Spirit of God gives life. Our task is to choose trust, walk in humility, and let love shape our understanding of everything.
