Understanding Sin
If sin has already been fully paid for, what’s the point of urging people to live better, more upright lives? Take someone addicted to porn or drugs. If those things make them happy, why should they quit? If everything is “paid in full” and there are no spiritual consequences, then why not just eat, drink, and be merry? Who cares?
Some will say there are temporal consequences, just not spiritual ones. Drug use, for example, can shorten someone’s life. But if they’re guaranteed heaven anyway, why does a shorter life matter?
We’re even seeing societies move in this direction. In places like Canada, the government is now telling people who no longer want to live that it’s acceptable to choose assisted suicide, and doctors will help them do it. Is this wrong? Why?
And if a woman wants an abortion, ending the life of her baby, why not, if the price of sin is already paid and no eternal consequences remain? The baby is going to heaven, so who cares?
(I know this is dark but this is real life things people are facing)
thank you
