The fall
In the day you eat of this fruit you will surely die. Shawn’s stance is that God is referring to spiritual death. It obviously wasn’t physical death, because they lived long lives. However God still appeared face to face with Adam and Eve that same day, and continued to appear to them and their children, years later, even in their fallen, sinful state. They were not cut off from Gods presence. They still talked and communicated with Him, and He still appeared to them. What do you mean by spiritual death?

Shawn’s answer in the call in hour essentially stated that it was always that they had access to God, AND God had access to them. Once they fell and were kicked out of the garden, God could still access them, but there wasn’t the opportunity for the reverse.
does this agree with how you see it?
