10 Words?
“So, the primary, ten words God gave this Nation were, “’I am YAHAVAH thy God, thou
shalt have no other gods before me,’” and all the other stated commands were merely
expressions of what obedience to these first ten words would specifically look like. The
first ten words essentially formed a marriage contract that God was making with the
Nation.”
I likely have a stupid question. No surprise. Anyway, the above quote is referred to as the 10 Words, but what’s offered in quotes is more than 10 literal words in English or Hebrew.
•Why is it called 10 words?
Is your claim a sort of interpretation borrowed from the ten statements that followed after the Hebrews failed to avoid idol worship?
Thanks.
