I’d really like to hear peoples thoughts on the Wes Huff video link below about the Trinity, does he have a point here? Personally, I’ve always found it difficult to accept that the nature of God was defined by men through the framework of the Trinity. It feels like an attempt to contain or categorize something far beyond human understanding. For me, God is one — the same Spirit that filled Jesus and is revealed through the Holy Spirit. I’m just not convinced that assigning a label like “Trinity” does justice to the fullness or simplicity of who God truly is.

He believes in eternal Sonship (Jesus was always the son of God) vs incarnational sonship (Jesus only became the son of God when He was born.)

Thanks for the response. That makes sense. Do you think eternal sonship is Biblical? I’m trying to understand if Jesus became Gods begotten son at birth or after he overcame his flesh… Not sure if I believe in Eternal sonship… seems a bit of a far stretch

Claire send your thoughts! I’ll also chime in that I believe Shawn comes from the fact that the term begotten is only used after Yeshuas death (idk if it’s death or resurrection), not before.

I’ll find out more! Claire might know better on this haha.

Here is my understanding: Yeshua is the Word of God. He was not Yeshua (a man) until He was begotten of the Father and born. The Word became flesh. The Word is separate from the flesh of Yeshua. The Word dwelled in Yeshua. The Word was with God in the beginning. When God spoke everything into existence that was The Word of God. That Word came down to earth to inhabit Yeshua. When Yeshua spoke on earth He was speaking the Word of God.

We can definitely watch this video and answer! Probably on the call in show this week, and then we will link it here. Not sure if you watched last week’s call in show, but we spent a large portion of it going over the Trinity! I’d encourage a watch of that too, because Shawn does a quick run at the issues he see with it as well.

We will def watch this video and get back to you! Thank you.

Hey! Yeah, I listened to that call-in hour — it really cleared a lot up, thanks. I guess what still puzzles me is how someone as well-studied as Wes Huff can spend his whole life researching Scripture — knowing the original languages, the early manuscripts, and church history inside out — and still hold to the Trinity and a futurist view of Christ’s return. It’s like most modern Christians just assume the early church fathers got everything right, and no one’s allowed to question it. The moment you even <em data-start=”628″ data-end=”635″>raise a doubt about the Trinity, you’re branded a heretic. I just find that so strange.
